23\01 Apologies

23/02 Declarations of interest in the following agenda:

Cllr Jeeves, declared his wife is a governor at All Saints, Ranton school.

Cllr Russell, declared an interest as she is on the board of All Saints church, Ranton.


23/03 Previous minutes:

The minutes of the previous meeting held on Thursday,March, 30th 2023 were accepted as a true record.


23/04 Updates of actions:

Church mowings and weeding: The quote and contract for Streetscene continuing mowing of the village was presented. The contract includes hedge cutting and weeding.

Action: Parish clerk will contact Streetscene to check how often this occurs during the year.

Online banking: Business team at Nat West stated that the steps had not been finalised and this was something they were working on. Cllr Russell stated that if things had not progressed further in the next month, the councillors will look at alternative banking at the next parish meeting.


23/05 Public question and response from the chair:

Two neighbouring Whitgreave parish councillors were in attendance.


Reports:

Annual chair's report: Agree to post a copy and place on the website.

Village Hall Committee:

Spode commemorative mugs £637.00 with 15% discount (£15 for 50). Councillors discussed a small note inside stating purchased by the parish council to commemorate the coronation.

Exploratory work will be carried out on the potential flooring issues. 57 tickets have been sold so far for the coronation party.

Mowing: Grass has not been cut in the last month. It was requested that mowing be completed before the street party and the parish clerk will request this.

Highways: Cllr Batchelor received a response regarding the Bourne property and cleared drains. Having spoken with Mr Bourne, they are awaiting a downpour to test whether there will any further flooding.

The general state of the repair of roads is quite dangerous, in particular Clanford Lane with large potholes.The county council states that funding is not available.

Footpaths: None walked. Coton Lane and Stocking Lane dog fouling is a particular issues. Fresh signage. Issues of dog fouling can be reported on a government portal.

Action: parish clerk to contact Streetscene regarding potential signage.

Gulleys and weeding: Covered above.

All Saints School, Ranton: No updates.

Noticeboard: Cllr Forrester a design would be needed for a parish council name plaque to be placed on the noticeboard.


23/06 Parish Clerk report.

There was an uncontested election result with five councillors for five places.

Local elections will held on Thursday May 4. Paperwork for councillors will be provided at the next parish council meeting.


23/07 Planning Updates:

None received.


23/08 Finance matters:

Accounts to date:

The latest statement date for 28 February, 2023 showed:

Reserve account balance £978.00

Current account balance £9,912.49

A cheque for £637.50 was signed for commemorative mugs for the King's Coronation.

Reserve account:

The reserve account will be finalised once online banking is available.

Ongoing Action: A total of £7,000 will be moved into the reserve account (mower fund) once online banking has been fully set up.

Action: Parish clerk will meet with Cllr Batchelor before the next meeting to finalise year-end accounts and prepare AGAR, and VAT refund claim.
